Event Results

The Walbrook event of 10 December was a success.  We  deployed 200 boats to the site at 7:00 am, and within 2 hours, they had all been picked up.

Over the next 48 hours, this website received 150 unique visitors, a very high feedback level with which we were very pleased.  The average visitor spent 6:40 on the site, indicating that visitors were interested in spending time on the site and reading over the information.

We had been hoping for higher levels of feedback, as few people logged in their boats, or contacted us with feedback.  However, we are still optimistic about the afterlife of this website and its events, and their contribution to the internet community.

Photos of the event are attached.

New: Proposals Added

As part of our project, a crucial aspect of this website is the presentation of (and feedback on) our architectural proposals for the revival of the River Walbrook – proposals necessitated by the city’s tenuous ecological situation.  We have presented three initial studies of different visions, each with its own unique approach and strategy.  They are:

  • The Walbrook as civic center
  • The Walbrook as nature preserve
  • The Walbrook as infrastructure

READ MORE ABOUT THE PROPOSALS HERE: [III. THE FUTURE]

Each suggests a different attitude of the city towards its lost rivers, and how to reintegrate them into the urban environment.  Please consider our proposals, bearing in mind they are initial, diagrammatic concepts intended to provoke, and give us your thoughts about how you think they deal with the problems of London in the future, whether you would enjoy seeing them implemented, or what you would do differently.  Anything is appreciated – leave a comment!

Please let us know what you thought of the article, what your reactions are to the issues themselves, or let us know of any corrections or suggestions on how to improve the site.  All feedback is appreciated.

Event at the Walbrook

The Walbrook will come alive today as we symbolically retrace its path on the city streets.  Participants are asked to take a boat with them as they cross the street and place it on the other side, signifying the passage once taken across the river.  The event will occur at the pedestrian of Queen St. over Cannon St, from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Please join us.

UPDATE: Photos of the event are attached.
